Dispensary vs. Growing Calculator

Courtesy of Ganjanomics, we have a handy tool that will help you identify how much money you can save growing your own versus buying at a dispensary.

How it works:
1. Enter your date of birth
2. Pick the state you reside in and the tool will automatically populate the number of plants you allowed to grow legally per person (If applicable)
3. Pick your experience level: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert
4. Your savings estimate will appear

The return on growing your own marijuana is calculated by taking your savings compared to buying from a store and dividing that by the cost to grow at home (potting soil, pots, fertilizer, scissors, labor).

If you save $2,500 growing and it costs you $300 in supplies, your return is 2,500/300=733%

These savings are compared to the stock market to help give you insight if there is a money-making opportunity that exists. If the stock market could make you more than the 733% mentioned above, you should take the $300 you were going to use to buy growing supplies and just invest it in the stock market.

Go ahead give it a try!

It is expensive to buy, I totally agree and am with you fully that people should be growing their own, especially when you consider how easy it is to grow and more and more states are legalizing.

Thanks for the comment! Yah they are definitely making a pretty penny off of us, and it shouldn’t be so when it’s for medical purposes.
